"I LOVE this thing!" is the thought I have every single time I turn off my Nook as I'm preparing for sleep. Every. Time. You'd think after a couple of weeks I'd get used to it, but no - each time my eyes get heavy enough that I can sleep, and I press the shut-down button, the thought pops into my mind and makes me smile as I turn off the light and snuggle into my pillow. I love that new Nook. What a great birthday gift it was! I'm kinda glad the old one died.

I'm back to my on-again/off-again sleep cycle. Boy does that wreck havoc with the day's chores. And necessitates too many trips to WalMart (which I'd prefer to never shop at) simply because of its round the clock openess.

Our bathroom floors have been measured for their new vinyl and the roll ordered. When it arrives, Bossman will have to tear out the new toilet from the master bathroom so the floor can be installed, then re-install the toitie all over again. I'm going to try to convince him to switch it to the main bathroom instead. It is one of the tall models and I think, since that is the room he prefers to use, that it would be better there than in the masterbath where his shortlegged wife prefers to retire. We lucked out on the flooring - because of the width of the roll, it is possible to do both rooms by simply adding two feet to the original order for the main bath, saving us a bundle of money and completing the project much faster than we had planned. I'm not thrilled about having that particular floor in the master bathroom but it isn't that it is bad (it is very nice, actually), just that it is not what I would have chosen for the master bathroom if I were given free rein. That room is so much smaller than the main bath that what compliments the one is only 'meh' in the other.

We're debating the wisdom of tearing out the sink/cabinet in the masterbath before the flooring gets here. It wasn't on our list of Things To Do Right Off The Bat, but neither was replacing the floor at this time. If we left it, we'd have to re-do the floor later on since it would be laid to the edge of the current (old, ugly, and glued to the wall) washstand. Thank goodness we have the other room's cabinet and sink already purchased as well as the new mirror. That mirror was a great find! Kirkland's was having a sale and we wandered in there just to see what the store was and came back out with a new dining plate (more about that later) and the mirror. The mirror is, I believe, a tad too large for the area above the sink but we don't know that for sure. Once we get the walls finished and the cabinet installed, we'll know. Luckily for us they have a generous return policy so if we need to downsize it will be no problem.

We've given away most of our Pfaltzgraff "Village" dishes - 6 plates, 8 cereal bowls, all of the snack plates and all of the serving/baking bowls have gone to a friend with a new townhouse. Our cupboard looks very odd. There is still a service for six in there but it will be changed out shortly. I've jumped the traces and am moving to an eclectic blend of stoneware/pottery for our single dining 'set'. Dishes that I just plain love to look at, actually, that call to me one way or another, regardless if they match each other or not. As the new plates are acquired, I'll set aside the remaining Pfaltzgraff stuff to give to Shawn. He said he wanted his familiar 'growing up' dishes and if I wasn't going to keep them, he would. He already took a couple of cereal bowls when he moved, saying that he just couldn't see trying to eat cereal if it wasn't in the same bowls he'd grown up with. I'll make a point of keeping one of the old dishes just for home visits and the boys can fight over who gets to use it at dinner. (Or not. I have a feeling that once they see the selection of the new ones, they'll be choosing 'favorites'.) Pottery being the temporary art that it is, my new 'collection' relieves the stress of having to find and purchase replacement pieces for any that break. Instead, that will just be an excuse to keep an eye out for something pretty to bring home at need or as the inspiration strikes. Besides, in our normal living there's just two of us so whittling down our collection to a service for six makes a lot of sense. We'll rarely be seating more than that. In fact, I can't think of why we would be. I'm sticking to stoneware-ish stuff as it seems the most common for our potters to use when creating their wares. I'd hate to try to stack porcelain in with heavier stuff, so that is my only restriction in the selection. Besides, Bossman would never use any of the porcelain.

I'm going nuts trying to find a good-sized mixing bowl set though. I despise the current styles out there right now, the stripes and polka-dots, or the bizarre colors. I'm more a Tuscan-pottery sort of person, I guess. I don't want florescent colored dishes in my kitchen!
