stitchwhich | It's a sad thing

I've been looking at shoes. Specifically, shoes of the Viking era. I thought, at first, that I'd make my own and save some money... not to mention that I've waited too long and I don't think a store could get them to me in time for my demo, but wow. Just wow. I am totally overwhelmed. And in pricing leather, I find that it will almost cost me as much to buy the leather as it would to buy a pair of lower-end ready-made shoes.

But who would have thought that my shoes would cost more than my tent? My goodness. $100 - 150 for a shoe that is correct for my persona's place/time. Wow. Over $100 to buy a hide of veggie-tanned leather to make my own shoes.

This hobby is expensive.
