I agree with your thoughts on the Black Egyptians hypothesis. IMO it's likely not an argument worth having because (a) you're not going to change their mind despite any facts that might come to light, and (b) it doesn't appear that further aftereffects of their espousal of the hypothesis are going to make much difference overall down the road.
Context is important, though. I would not want to see this hypotheses *taught* as fact, even in something like an SCA collegium setting (such as Pennsic U, or U of Atlantia). That, to my mind, constitutes them stepping over a line inappropriately. Taught as one of *multiple* hypotheses would be okay though.
