"Anda" is Mongolian for (essentially) "shield brother" but without the gender identifier. (Same idea of close military family/brotherhood as we have in Europe and the US, pretty much.)

I did the beadwork on his medallion string too, trying for something at least vaguely Mongolian. So far as we know Mongolian men did not wear necklaces so it is a total anachronism.
