I am crocheting a baby blanket of soft, velvety-silky cotton. A lovely lavender one with a stripe of pale yellow/white/lavender thread added every three rows (I strongly dislike that particular stuff - it's just three thin threads loosely spun together but the lavender yarn makes up for it and hides its stiffness under folds of softness, and the three-strand colors do blend in so well with the solid yarn that it looks like an English Garden in the early morning).

I haven't crocheted in years. I had to get my "Reader's Digest Guide to Needlework" out in order to re-learn how to do something other than a single crochet. But it is coming along very quickly now and I like the look of it. I think it should be a crib-sized rectangle by the time I use up all the yarn.

This is what happens when one walks into a yarn store and gets seduced by shiny soft yarn with absolutely no pattern in hand and a dear friend expecting her first child. (Look! An excuse to buy the pretty yarn! Legitimate reason to fondle same! yay!) I'm winging it. :)
