No panic. yet.

Ask me about stickers, sometime...
It’s one in the morning. I should be in bed, I know that. I slept in until 10 this morning so my little pea-brain thinks it’s an event weekend and I should be up partying or something. But no, it’s a work weekend… I’ve balanced the checking account, paid all the bills we cover this period, staged all the ones that have to be mailed during Pennsic-tide (I LOVE online payments!) and have sewn 4 new tunics. Those are give-away ones that the Horde will use to pay our mercenaries. It’s a good excuse to clothe folks who don’t necessarily have tailors or seamstresses in their social group. And it’s fun to be part of a Nation that hires swords. (Or actually, gives some folks an excuse to fight for one side or the other. Heck – Atlantia used to pay in chocolate cookies but I understand now that “our Kingdom doesn’t deal with - spit – “mercenaries”. Okay, whatever floats your pride boat. But I don’t see a difference between choosing to fight for one side or the other based on how nice a pair of Royals were and how ‘royally’ they treated our K&Q as compared to, hmmm… how well someone treats my Khan. But hey – some folks see a big difference in that. Come to think of it, I suppose there is one – we get our Kingdom based on where we live, our Royals based on who’s the best fighter that day… I get my Khan and Household based on a personal choice of honor. ‘Nuff said.)
Anyway, 5 tunics made to give away, folded and packed, and now 5 more lengths of cloth ironed and cut out for sewing tomorrow. Nothing fancy, unfortunately, just knickers, trous and a couple of cotton tunics I can wear while doing the Quartermaster thing. I have lumber to tote Landgrab weekend. A lot of lumber. So “throw away” garb is a good idea. If any of it survives Pennsic, I’ll toss it into Gold Key (well, not the knickers). By next year, I should have enough hand-sewn stuff to last the whole War. After this batch of machine-sewn stuff is done, I can cut out a few things to work on by hand. I’m looking forward to wearing the knickers – I took a page from another SCAdian and am using thin cotton fabric with fun designs on them (who’s going to see them?). I have cute penguins, soccer-playing dinosaurs, and a pair of really, man, really far-out tie-dyed ones, maaaaannnn… I almost got some spiderman fabric but it was just too stiff to imagine it being comfortable. I’ll have to keep my eyes open. I like the knickers better than sports-shorts for avoiding the dreaded chaffing. Next spring, I’ve GOT to get some of the Easter eyelet/lace stuff. Heh. And some pink ribbons, I think. Oh yes….
Ow. I think my mind’s eye just fractured it’s “Viking women” template. Oh well. That’s what duct tape is for…
