So I'm trying to design a 'tapestry' (really an embroidery) that would look correct to the Viking era. There are only two tapestries extant from the time period, the Oseberg (in fragments, dating to around 834), which looks like this http://www.sjolander.com/viking/museum/m/l/xl/horned.htm
or this

and the Overhogdal, which dates to the eleventh century (roughly) and is a more simple one than the Oseberg. You can see it here: http://www.overhogdal.se/english1/tapestry-e.htm
I played with my pen and paper and I think I have an okay cartoon (line drawing) of what I'm going to try to stitch. What do you think?

I hope it will do because that was a lot of work. An artist, I'm not. And I have to do about seven more feet of it, sooner or later, for it to hang where I want it to. But for the Norsa event/demo, I think this will be enough of a start. Assuming I get it transferred to cloth.
