I've felt better

I have a box.
It's one of those 'anyone going to Pennsic buys one of these boxes because they are so useful' sort of things. You know the ones, a wooden box with a mirror set on a hinge on the lid, of a good size for coronets, jewelry, make-up kits. And like everyone else who has one, I rely on mine at Pennsic. Not for the mirror, actually, (except as a handy reflector for a candle should I set one in front of it), but for storage of my 'important stuff'. Anyway, it's not a 'period' box. It probably could be, at least on the outside, but that would require the replacement of hinges and locks, and, well, I just don't care enough about the thing to do that. So I accepted that it would never be part of my 'kit' and decided to let it display that rarely seen side of me, the "I'm in the SCA for the romance of it" facet of life...
What I mean is, I decorated it in a way found only in Renn fairs and certain tourist stores. I put designs on it that I used to use when I supplied a little art gallery in Birmingham, Al, and that I rarely ever used in the SCA because they were celtic-fadish rather than used in a historical manner. But I liked them, and I've never had an excuse to use them for our own stuff. So I decided to use them on my totally non-documentable but-oh-so-useful little box. And now, I'm gonna shock you all by showing it to you. Here:

My lady-in-the-moon looks a little more grumpy than she has in the past. I think my pattern is getting overused and needs to be re-traced afresh. But it's too late for this project! You know, I have wanted a reason to use the "Albanach" designs at the bottom for years. I've always loved them and used that particular one a lot on the boxes I sold to the gallery but never on anything for myself. Until now. I promise to hide the thing when my woodworking friends come to visit!
Bitter back-door politics bit us in the hinney today and caused some heat between my beloved and I. I regret that. At one point, we were both ready to quit - Pennsic, camping, the SCA, you name it. Luckily, once the worst of the storm between us was over we bailed out our boat and are floating fine again. Outside, the stress is still there but now it's not as end-of-my-rope dire.
