Today's walk was lovely - the weather is mild so the two of us were comfortable and just enough breeze was blowing to cool us as we pushed along - and the sunrise following it was one of those pretty "florida" ones with real rays coming up from the sun behind the horizon-clouds. I had never seen that effect before I went to bootcamp in Orlando so I always associate it with that place.

The new sewing machine works just fine. I didn't touch it for about three days, afraid. Yeah, I know, that sounds silly but knowing it didn't inspire me to get over myself and just use the thing. I finally figured out that I was afraid of being disappointed - as long as I didn't use it the possibility that it would be a good machine was less strong than the opposite, which my research on the web had conditioned me to expect. I just hated this latest round of 'find a good machine with a good review for under $1000' and couldn't stand the idea of having to start the search all over again.

So anyway, I've sewn a lined cover for it, which I won't be showing to any of my sewing friends, thankyouverymuch, as I have no desire to see them wrinkle their noses at it. I am content with the slightly-lopsided thing. It is bright and cheerful and I added four pockets to the outside to hold the pressure foot, electrical cord, and scissors and such. The scissors have their very own 'holster' so I don't forget them.

The dermatologist's appointment was the typical medical blend of soothing/alarming. The condition I went in for was a nice normal one that can be addressed with a topical ointment while a side comment led to him examining the spot where I'd had that biopsy a while back and now "potential life-threatening problem" is hovering in there (in a fifty/fifty blend with 'not a bad thing at all, don't get yourself worked up') but of course, it may mean yet another biopsy. Personally, I think as slow as the appointments are it may heal its little self before I ever see the man again.

The doc startled me... I'd asked about some weird sort-of-freckles on my arm and he looked, told me it was the damage you get from too much exposure over a long period of time, then reached behind himself and brought out what looked like a seltzer bottle. I thought he was going to spritz alcohol or something on my skin but noooo-ooo... "You'll feel a sting" was followed by a spray of freezing stuff on my elbow. "Hey!", I said, "Whattheheckareyoudoing?" The reply was, "It was just a bit of sun damage that needed to be taken care of."

And that was all he'd say about it. Seems I saw a "Doctor Knows Best" practitioner. That may work on the first visit but isn't gonna fly on any subsequent ones - as he was beginning to find out by the end of my visit. [gurrrrr - don't pull "All-knowing God Of Medicine on ME, bucko!]

I am now gonna go download Gershin's "Rhapsody in Blue" from iTunes* and go play with my sewing machine again. I've got new knickers to make before the weekend... heh. New knickers. You have no idea how much the turkey-print fabric tempted me - I kept thinking about Order meetings but the knights/dragons/jesters & maidens print won out.

*I got it, I got it, I GOT IT! They had my absolutely favorite redition, the first one I'd ever loved, which I have not heard since I was a teen (my mom took my album from me as a keepsake, "my baby girl's favorite album") and I went into feline slit-eyed bliss as I heard the sample cut on iTunes. Mine, mine, mine... *happy sigh* MINE. Heh.
