I spent Thursday with Shilo, catching up on chatting and each of us toiling away on our projects. I like my project better than hers (she was finishing seams while I was knitting). That night was 'catch up on recorded TV shows' with Arni, which was actually very nice - I like being able to choose which shows we want to watch and fast-forward through the ever-the-same commercials. In fact, we liked it well enough that we repeated the experience on Friday night. Had to do something with "numb3rs" being displaced by stupid basketball. I firmly believe that major channels should have secondary ones for sports. Really. But then, now that I think of it, how will I get to watch all the movies I've missed if Arni isn't glued to the TV watching Football next fall while our favorite shows are on? Okay, so maybe there is an advantage to football. But not to baseball or basketball. I draw the line there. Next thing you know, we'll be watching curling competitions rather than CSI or something. Why can't they superceed reality shows? Hrumpf!
So. Friday I got to hang out with my youngest, eating at a favorite fast-food restaurant (Long John Silvers. I'ts a family thing) and then shopping at Barnes and Nobles, where he reminded me that there was a folklore/mythology section. I now have a new bedtime book, an overview of Norse Gods and legends. Very nice, with a lovely section that gives synopsis' of each of the Eddas and Sagas. That is quite handy.
Today featured a trip to North Carolina to get Arni's cigarettes and finally try out the food in some little restaurant he's been wanting me to agree to eat at. It wasn't bad, just painfully slow for a burger that was okay but not outstanding enough for the wait. But we've tried it now, so that's done. And I found a few more little do-dads to salt away for Giftmas stockings. The trip back was through rain but we side-stepped for Hancock's Fabric (I doubt I'll ever bother going back in there) and for Lowe's to look at replacement flooring, which only highlighted our ignorance of what to look for before buying. In fact, right after I update, I'll be playing with Google to see if there's something online that will explain the pros and cons of each option. The salesclerk certainly was no help, poor overworked lady. I don't think she ever got more that three sentences in with any one set of customers.
So lazy, easy-going, no hassle days. The lawyers have fired off our first volley to Budget's lawyers, my sunburn is almost done blistering and is in the ugly peeling stage and I can almost open my mouth enough to bite an apple without pain. Gotta love blistered lips. :) (And on subject, Bert Bee's Honey Lip Balm is WONDERFUL. Even if it makes me laugh that I bought it at a bookstore (Walden's - did I mention that my boy loves books too?). I started out yesterday with big huge blisters across my whole bottom lip. After buying that lip balm in the afternoon, I went to bed with tender and mostly-blistered lips. Today, it just looks like I may have been a teenager who just learned how to make out... puffy, a little blistered, and no more pain on touch. Wow. I'm a convert to the stuff. And it smells good, too. Too bad I don't plan on *ever* getting sunburned again so what will I do with that lip stuff? Maybe it will work on fingertips roughed by too much sewing or something.
Man, I love days with no drama.
