That really silly meme

I took the "Are you spoiled" meme. Good gravy! I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. "Have you eaten at the Space Needle?" Every kid whose parents couldn't think of what to do for birthdays or graduation (or any other big thing) has eaten there. Travel? Uh, Yeah - because I enlisted! I scored 15 of those questions and if I had eliminated the military-service ones, I would have been under 10.

No, really - I'm smoking. Okay, well, *I* am not smoking, my stove is. But it's my fault so I'm claiming it. See, I put the chicken on to boil so I could make broth/cool it to debone and while it was heating, I went to read my email. Yup. You know what comes next. Boil-over. Flames, actually, on the side of the burner (wow! fatty chicken!). And did I turn everything off and clean it up before continuing? Why, no, I didn't. Just turned it down, added water, and sat in the kitchen to keep an eye on it.
I was so intent on my handsewing that I didn't notice it the visibility in the kitchen was a tad low. Not until I'd turned off the heat and headed to the store to pick up eggs (for beef-brined ones this weekend, not for Easter). Once I walked into the house after the clean air break... whoo wee. So the door is open and the fan is on. Hopefully I'll get it clear before Arn gets home from the Newcomer's Meeting.

And btw, for those of you on a environmentally-friendly kick, I can add yet another reason to invest in a few good sturdy canvas shopping bags. Not only do they insulate your groceries well, but I can carry about 40 pounds of food in one as opposed to those whimpy store bags. I only get a bag at the store if I plan on making popcorn, anymore*.

*That's right. I pop my popcorn in a big pan, in oil, on the stove and then pour it into a paper bag with the edges rolled... salt and eat. You eat yours your way and I'll eat mine mine. Unless you like my way, then I'll share.
