Hurmpf! It appears my little Manx likes bacon - the thick cut, hickory smoked, salt-cured kind.

Little thief.

Tough day

Less slep than I needed. Bad phone call from my eldest's bank with accompanying adrinaline burst (thankfully in error but the hours between the call and the 'all clear' were spent weeping... I am NOT a good parent). Long phone call breaking bad news to a baronial member who doesn't bother to read the newsletter or attend meetings - she makes plans, I break them. Apparently. Was too drained to make dinner. I just sat at the computer and played solitaire games until it occurred to me that Arni was outside sanding and staining a new bench to donate for baronial use - 'work therapy'. Something I'd encouraged in friends over the years. So I took a page from his book and closed the computer down and picked up my embroidery. The neckline is coming out really well. The recipient has already picked up on the cultural merging of the design and a small fix in patterning took it from 'not sure I like it' to 'I think I admire this design'. Yeah! It'll take about 25 hours of stitching to complete the collar and I'm already mulling fun stuff for the sleeves.

Work Therapy. Glad Arn reminded me by setting such a good example. Glad my eldest called and popped my worry-balloon with a nice long phone call that was thankfully all-so-normal about life. The worst thing that happened in his life was a slow interstate bank transfer of funds and a (finally after 5 years) brake job on his car. Normal. He's going to a gym coach to learn how to be a 'bottom' (stop snickering, you!) for tumbling acts. His coach was over-the-top thrilled that Zack had already had four years of cheerleading behind him. And the job that he's training for lasts far beyond the normal gymnast's 'performance span', well into the 50s and 60s - and always has openings in acts such as Circe's normal fare. So my boy is planning for his future in the field that most gives him joy. I love that.

Shawn went shopping with me yesterday and wouldn't let me pay for anything, then gave me a 'bejeweled' game for my computer as an early Mother's Day gift.

I love my family.
