stitchwhich: (bodybirdies)
Last night's Activities Night was pretty nice, pretty darn nice. We had a good crowd of people and when I looked around, I saw folks doing Illumination (and one new person practising on a promissary), a group of newcomers talking with our Chatelaine, some folks working on repairing whatever you call the chainmail that hangs from the bottom of a helm, a woman putting together a frame for an archery butt, two others fitting an Italian Renn gown's "muslin", two of us in a different corner embroidering (it was a lovely thing to be taught the "Bayeux Tapestry Stitch" by my baroness and fellow-Laurel. I guess this means I should maybe do some practising at weaving since she's the weaver and I'm the embroider-er!) after we ohhed and ahhed over the Public Library's copy of the 'standard text and illustration' of the Tapestry... I do love looking at that.

My lightest chiton was tried on by a multitude of lovely ladies who are determined to make some for themselves before Pennsic... and there was a smattering of cute knee-high urchins pushing their strollers around the square formed by all the tables and just generally making us smile. It was a good evening.

Afterwards I came home and did bookkeeping (Chilly Willies LOVES 'bookkeeping'!), laundry, and that general-tidying up stuff that makes a person feel really good when it's done. Then I ordered an overdue gift (and doncha know it, it's back ordered until August. Nothing like inclosing a catalogue picture in a birthday card!) as well as "Viking Clothing" by Thor Ewing. And now, I'm for bed. If I'm lucky, I can catch 6 hours of sleep and still have all afternoon to do my shopping. Gotta go buy groceries and purple & green crochet thread. (If my Baroness is weaving with it, then it should work for me, too, right?) I'm going to make a good try at weaving some of those favors - Margret should not have to produce all 25 by herself. Heck, no.
