that reading and writing, not to mention turning my head quickly, is going to be extremely weird for the next few days. I picked up my new tri-focal 'progressive' glasses and it's a lot like living in a special-effects lab surrounded by fish eye windows.

It makes me quesy.

The new glasses, they are a b*tch. I just got back from lunch with Shawn, which featured a need to do a U-turn at a 2-stop sign 4-way intersection, where I missed, totally, seeing an on-coming small black car and barely avoided a head-on collision. Shawn was the one who 'Mom!"-ed and I slammed on the brakes. The other driver, some gentleman with a 4"wide ring of tattoos around his neck and a cigarette hanging (really) from his lip, stopped, cussed, gestered, called me names my sailor-grandfather would NOT approve of, got out of his car to do more of the same (I stayed in with the window rolled up and mouth "I'm so sorry") and then as a crowning gesture of his anger, spit on my windshield.

He must have really been scared to death at the idea of an accident. Poor guy...

But still, I am now *quite* aware that my peripheral vision is unreliable and I'm going to stay away from the driver's wheel until I can adapt to the fish-eye effect. It wasn't very responsible for me to assume that I could drive just because I could after all the other 'new glasses' experiences I've been in.

On another note, I'm looking for a teapot for myself. A nice 14-20 ounce pot that is NOT a Brown Betty. I'm tired of those. The ones here look good but my favorite one so far is this one *, not because of the little cup and saucer, of course, but because the pot appeals to the whimsical in me. I'm only interested in the actual pot - I don't know what I'm going to do with the cup & saucer if I end up getting one of these sets. I looked at some lovely Japanese and Chinese traditional pot but boggled at the price tag. I have to keep it in the $30 range if I want to convince Arn to get me one for my birthday or Giftmas - when one is praying for a $200 book, one does not also ask for an expensive single-person teapot on top of it. If anyone has seen a cute/serene/victorian small teapot online, drop me the link, will you? I had considered the 'teamug with infuser' set up but decided against it.

EDIT: Evidently Bigelow doesn't like it when a blogger links. You have to click onto 'teapots' and then see the one called the "Bienvenue Tea For One".
