Catching up. Got the Troll sheets typed up by staying up to 3:30 last night... not because I *had* to in some Pelican-driven frenzy, but because I couldn't sleep and decided that ticking off one of my 'tod do' check marks might help me relax. And it did. :)
Getting ready for the post-KASF staff meeting. The autocrat wants us to do a serious feed-back 'what would be better next time' sort of thing. My first thought was, "don't let the spouse of anyone being elevated to a peerage run *anything* that day". It was my worse job of Troll _ever_. I seriously let down the volunteers.
Arni's day, however, was wonderful. Calli, 'Drea, Fritz, Byram, and Kiri & Philip were all life-savers. OMG, yes. And Arn was not aware of any of the stressing I was doing for the vigil set-up (except that "where are the tents" thing when we got there) so he did spend the day simply doing what he was supposed to be doing - contemplating his change in status and getting the advice of those who could speak to him. He said that there was a lot for him to think about in perspective-changes that had never occurred to him before.
And he loved his ceremony. I could wish that I hadn't boo-hoo'd like a baby, though. I admit, I was so proud of him that even now I'm a little teary.
Here's a crazy thing - I'm sort of half-thinking about putting in a bid for the same event next year in the same spot, just so we can incorporate the (hopefully) feedback from this one into a better one next year. Since the Hall id definately too small for Kingdom 12th night, it seems a shame to just never use it again. (It's too expensive for a 'small' event. Gotta have about 350 folks in attendance.)
Arn and I were so wiped on Sunday that the whole day passed before we even thought about the date - which was his 55th birthday. I can't even find where I squirrelled away his gift!
