"Dig Deep, Grow Strong"
Oct. 4th, 2007 02:10 pmAbout six years ago Lord Gunther gave me a willow sapling as a birthday gift. The widest part of its stem was about as thick as Arni's thumb. Sir Colin helped Arni plant it in the front yard and it has grown. And grown. All the neighbors love it and one, who lives up the street with three willows in her back yard, comes to oggle it every few days. Hers are about one quarter its size. She asks me every once in a while what I've done to make it grow so well and I always tell her, "Nothing but think good thoughts at it."
The first few years after it was planted, every time I left the house, I'd look at it and say, "Dig deep, grow strong." In hurricane country that was important... my sons started doing the same. Keeping in mind that this tree is no older than eight years old,
( look and marvel with me. )
