An Observation
Apr. 10th, 2008 01:42 pmAfter reading LJ today I find, again, that I am still able to be stunned about how many people gloat over how they freaked out some ernest door-knocking religious person.
Yeah, it's annoying to have to get up and answer the door only to find it is someone attempting to convert you to their faith as if you didn't have a good one of your own (or chose not to have one). But these folks are living their faith in the way they've been taught to do so and are certainly either brave or foolish to take on so many slammed doors and vicious (however witty) responses to their attempts to save you, a total stranger, from what they believe is unending pain.
I may not like their message or their methods but I will do them the simple courtesy of respecting their personal* integrity.
*Note I didn't mention their Church's integrity, or their pastors, Elders, or whoever. They aren't the ones sweating on my doorstep and trying to be pleasant after repeated door-slamming and snarling.
