I've been looking for some wooden or ceramic bowls to replace the green splatterware ones we use for camping. They're just the right size for too many uses and as we've bettered our kitchen, those bowls have just plain been irreplacable. Until now. I know no one else would care but me but I'm writing about it anyway.

As it turns out, the ceramic bowls of the barony's new set, which we've been encouraged to personally buy one or two of to keep for when we set out a sideboard are - ta-da! - two ounces smaller than our metal splatterware ones. How handy is that?

And it just so happens that Dillard's* still has plenty in stock. So I bought three more in "Rowanwald" colors; green, gold, and russet (or really, terra cotta by their glaze) rather than the pretty patterned ones, so they'll coordinate with but not usurp the beauty of the baronial ones. We already have two matching serving plates and bowls for the sideboard. Which, I forgot last weekend, of course.

Three bowls are a little thing, I know. But it makes me happy. And while I don't expect I'll be getting rid of the so-handy splatterware ones any time soon, now my camp kitchen will have pretty medievaloid bowls to serve salads and pasta in... (No, Eadric, this doesn't mean I will be able to escape your pretty pottery. It just means I'll have some that I won't cry over if they break. Wait. Edit. The "sage" ones match your light green glaze. We already have one pitcher and two cups in that... oh dear. My credit card finger itches...)

*To those in the barony, I asked about us possibly leaving some packages behind when we bought the set in October. The clerk said she remembered our visit but was sure that nothing had been left behind as she would have noticed any packages that size and would have traced the purchaser through the credit card that evening as she was closing out.
