I'm in! Goody. Now to read, and read, and read....
In one of those 'serendipity moments', the person I was helping with their name has emailed me back with a cool story. See, he's an archer. And while I was reading lots of name lists, I found a name or two that sounds like what he wanted in a census list of Flemish archers "members of the Guild of Archers of St. Sebastian", which tickled both of us. So today he emails me to remind me of the crossbows he'd told me he was going to try to make (working with my husband) and lo and behold, one is a Flemish arbalest while the other is "the St. Sebastian bow". How perfect is that?
What a great email to read first thing.
The rest of my day is the standard fare of the housewife. I am still facing Pennsic laundry (it was dry so I could afford to put it off) compounded now by the laundry pile from this week. Urg. And there's the trip to the Commissary - always a joy. (Yes, that was sarcasm.) Following that exciting activity will be a reward trip to Barnes & Nobles, I think. Although I should wait for Arni to be able to go too. And if I'm lucky, I can talk him into a movie tonight. We still haven't seen "Dark Knight" and I want to catch it on the big screen.
The guys were surprised by a falcon landing on our house roof last Friday. I've heard one kee'ing outside in the dawns since then. The bunnies are not showing their faces much - smart bunnies, even if the falcon is a fish-eater. (Arn thinks it was an Osprey although its markings were much like a Peregrine. Given the behavior of the local birds when it appears, I'd almost vote for peregrine too except we both konw this is a bit out of its range.)
