*splash* *gurgle*
Sep. 5th, 2008 07:51 amI went swimming today. "So what?" You say, "people tend to do that in the summer."
yeah, well... it's been about 30 years since the last time I did. And ya know what? You can totally lose your form in that amount of time. Totally. Or perhaps the replacement of spinal parts has changed things. All I know is that I managed about 10 lack-luster laps, back stroke because I couldn't manage freestyle at all and was huffing and puffing by the third lap.
I loved it.
Gotta do that some more. I'm using it as my reward when my walking partner doesn't show up. And maybe, later, I'll do it just because. Because it's fun. All the kids are in school so the pool is mostly-empty and the only folks in there are old people doing water aerobics - which means that the lap lanes are mine, ALL MINE! Bwaaaahahahhahaaa!
(I really did enjoy it. I had completely forgotten how much I used to love to swim. I used to live in the water, nearly, and for most of my teen years was on a state swim team - backstroke, freestyle, and diving, but that was years ago and over half a continent away. Thank goodness no one at the pool knows that as I inched my way back and forth. I have learned that it is a great way to determine if your strength is balanced between left and right sides. Mine... is not. Gotta work on that weak side so I won't drift to the left all the time. That's embarrassing.)
