I think not
Sep. 25th, 2008 04:51 pmI took a risk to my sensibilities and went to our local Goodwill store trying to find an inexpensive basket. I didn't find one but I did find a set of large bookshelves filled with books. So I bought three paperbacks and came home.
You see, I have this reading weakness. For Regency Romances. I rarely buy them as the price for the things always makes me gasp but there they were, discounted to a T, so home they came...
Ye Gods.
A well-crafted Regnecy Romance is a wonderful romp, a short vacation from daily life, that can add a little zing to your day as you remember witty retorts and diabolical [sic] plots to get around Parents, Governesses, and Guardians. These, however, well, these... hmmmm... let us just say that a grasp of the social mores would have been beneficial to the authors, as would an editor who correct the dialogue into something resembling what was used in the era.
"I need you to stay right here, okay?" said the hero.
*sigh*
I guess I should have expected it - well written copies don't end up at Goodwill.
