Colin Powell is a heck of an eloquent speaker - and his dedication to his country stands clear... how hard, do you think it was, to publicly say, "This man is my friend and as much as I admire and respect him, I cannot vote for him"?

Given his awareness of his standing in the US, and the duty it creates, he has confirmed my respect. It would have been far easier (and less costly in terms of friendship) to stay silent or to speak on purely party lines.
