Feb. 7th, 2009 07:50 pmThe good news is that it happened in the parking lot while Arn and his driving companion were inside eating.
The bad news is that the driver of the offending vehicle just drove off and never said a word after hitting our truck. The driver's side door is caved in, the window destroyed. It is gonna be a cold, cold drive home for them, two hours on the freeway with a wide-open window. There's no way to cover it without obscuring the view of the side mirror.
Now for a test of our insurance policy. Yeh. Just six days before we're driving to Ymir. At least we're in the 'trough' between cold snaps.

GEICO was fast and on top of things (I already, just an hour after the incident, have their insurance message with all our info on it) - the policeman was a bit hesitant, which made Arn laugh. Seems he was confused seeing a bunch of medieval guys around the truck. Hah! THe one time Arni travels in garb and wouldn't you know it...

The police officer's conclusion, after seeing the heel print in the door is that someone, probably the owner of the truck that had been parked next to Arn's, actually kicked the door. Which means he would have had to have pulled out and then either he or a passenger walk over and kick the door. The manager of the Applebees is checking his security tapes in the hopes of finding a clear picture of the act. That would be interesting. Arn said that everyone was very helpful and supportive. Poor Jordan nearly froze to death on the way home and Arn was blessing his Guard's hood (having just been made a member of the Marinus' Guard) because he could wear the double-wool thing up while he drove to protect his poor cheek from the chill of the wind.
