Reading about PTSD is depressing.

The manager of the pest control company came over today to inspect and treat our house. Luckily for me (silver lining here) some little adventurous termite explorers were out & about when he got here, making it impossible for anyone to doubt my tale. But I didn't need their help - he took one look at our bathroom and knew exactly how things had unfolded...

We live in a 'slab' house - one built on a concrete slab foundation. Well. When they pour that concrete, they leave a big ole hole in the area where the bathroom pipes have to come up from below. And that, my children, constitues the Termite Transway. The little buggers followed the nice warm pipes, below the level of the outside treatment soak, directly into the nice humid bathroom and along the branching pipes to the other bathroom and even, maybe, to the kitchen. How handy for them.

A can and a half of termite-roadblock later, their freeway system has been shut down. And I, my friends, have been totally vindicated. That won't do a thing for the expense of our repairs but it does make my flabby heart feel a little better.
