Hanging out at the park for SCA-fighter's practise was great. A little chilly under the shade (the breeze was nippy) but under the sun it was wonderful. There were so many fantastic doggies walking by that it was hard to keep my eyes on my embroidery - allergies keep me away from most pets, at least during the pollen season, but boy, were they cute. Or handsome, depending on age and breed. And it was fun to note who were the good owners (well behaved, under control dogs) and who were owned by their pets. Kites were flying up the hill and there was an abundance of radio-controlled vehicles 4-wheeling up and down its slope. The whine of their tiny motors was a bit annoying but oh well. We had a good turnout of rapier folks who worked hard for about three hours. Unfortunately we only had one heavy fighter show up to actually fight (two came to marshal) so he talked to visitors and hung out then went home unchallenged. Poor guy.

Got to talk sewing with one of our newer members of the group. I'll be helping her learn how to sew and will get her family garbed up so she'll be comfortable taking her time learning. That she's expecting so I get to sew for a baby doesn't hurt. :)

Arn and Opi cleaned out the attic yesterday and in the process cleaned a bunch of stuff out of the garage too. My god, Arn found my old college papers. I burned in shame even as I re-read those old essays and term papers. Huh! The format isn't even used anymore. I wonder what happened to the "one sentence thesis" that it has become so uncommon in English classes anymore. Perhaps that is an East coast US thing? Who knows. But the writing - ARGGGggg! And I just rolled my eyes when I read an instructors' note, "good bibliography" then looked at the biblio and thought that it wasn't one that would be at an acceptable level if it were in documentation for an SCA A&S entry. I hadn't really realised how much my standards had risen over the years.

I'm going through all my past reports for what my office spent at Pennsic... what a pain in the patoot! Have to report it in clumps of spent per day/ spent per store for each of the years I was Q-Master. It's not looking good for the office - the new Exchequer rules have pretty much destroyed any chance of the office continuing in service.

Man, I hate that. Oh well - I made some folk's lives a whole lot easier for quite a while. And then again, I haven't had a real pennsic vacation in so long that I'm almost grateful they've tightened the rules to the point a person would have to be independently wealthy in order to be a War Quartermaster. I can relax every day in my camp? I can park my car and just leave it there? I can, oh, read a book or take a class? The horrors!
