November Nor'Easter
Nov. 12th, 2009 10:23 pmWater continues to rise. At HIgh Tide, around 5:00, it had breached our curb and surrounded the mailbox post. Now, as I type during low tide, the backwash - because that is what it is - has continued to rise and half of our front lawn is under water. I'd estimate that if we get another 6 inches of flooding, it will be coming into the house itself.
The word is that it will be ebbing between now and our next high tide. The rain is down to spitting and misting. The wind is still at a steady 35-40 mph with gusts in our area at 56 -60. Shelters are open but since we're dry and still have all of our utilities, we are staying here.
Besides, the flooding is worse in the area around us than it is at our home. I'm not sure we could safely get out. (Not because of Arn's driving, he's very good and we have the big Ford truck, but other folks have been as crazy as you'd expect and there are stranded cars all over the place.)
