ARG! "Dress Diary"

I'm working on hoods for a southern group who are Viking Reenactors. (I may have written about them here) and have finally finished hand-sewing all the edges of the hoods. Now I'm putting on braid along the edge of the mantles. Can I just say,

"ARG!"

Man, is that a pain in the tuchis. I haven't figured out how I did it so easily before, when I used it on Bera's Laurelling-coat. I know I will, practise makes perfect and all that, but geez... I'd rather be folding laundry than doing this.
