How come the ONLY time my phone rings (after a whole day of silence) and it is a friend I'd really like to talk to, it does so just about the same time as my land-line rings, with yet a different person I've missed... and that would be at the same time that we have a guest who is getting ready to leave and they and my husband wants to talk over the stuff they've been working on all day, for me, and can't start the next phase until we talk?
So I briefly talk to one, put off the other, chat with the leave-taker, kiss my husband and tell him that he lights up my world, and then...
...And then, the house returns to the sound of crickets. Because, you know, I have free time again, but now it is past the time that anyone can decently make a phone call.
What's with that?
