Nice weekend was nice.

Expensive, but nice. I missed out on going to the movies with everyone - because I was sleeping. Sleeeeepinggggg. Ah, glory! Even though it was Robin hood, even though I'd bought my non-refundable ticket online, even though I didn't get to go with Bossman, and even though they went out to eat afterwards... it was worth it. Because I finally slept 'real sleep'. That was grand. Besides, Bossman says he wants to go see it again so I'll still get movie-night with da hubby. :)

I was, of course, wide awake all that night, so made a run to our 24-hour Walmart. And found that they had fresh strawberries and blackberries. Blackberries in a big, big tub. Fat, dark, and juicy. Yum. Nom, nom, nom...

We played cards with friends on Saurday afternoon, then I sewed with a different set in the evening, finishing up with some recorded-TV time with Bossman. He went to bed while I (of course) stayed up all night and worked on projects - and ate more berries.

Sunday afternoon was our regional heraldic commentary day. We gathered at a Barnes & Noble's store and used their Internet - four people clustered around three laptops, divvying out the submission-fields: "You take OSCAR, I'll take "Fields, per pale", then you take "roses" and I'll hit "flowers, multipetalled and what the hell is THAT?!?!

"MUST go find what that really looks like - read that blazon! ARgggg!"

"Oh. Look at the date. That explains it."

Meanwhile, the other team, who had heard our comments, has to see what we're hiding our eyes from. heh. They didn't share their terrors but that's okay - one was a rank beginner in conflict-checking and he was getting quite the primer in what to look for and how to find it from his partner.

And the green tea latte, btw, is green Like, solient-green. Scary. [livejournal.com profile] opivali bravely drank it after I ordered it for him (Hey, it sounded like something he'd like - he drinks green tea all the time) but I won't be making that mistake again.

We finished up at Chedder's, a chain restaurant that had caught Bossman & my eyes the previous month. It was astonishing - looked like a good place to eat, I liked the decor, the waitstaff was friendly and prompt... and then the waitress pulled out a piece of notepaper and set it on the middle of our table. "These are the things we are currently out of," she said. There must have been twenty items on that list - including napkins, butter (!), croutons, croissants, ribs... and then she told us that was normal for a Sunday! We were stunned.

I got home to find two things - one was that Bossman, bless his soul, had replaced our old showerhead. He'd had a rough go of it, too, with one new showerhead missing parts (trip back to Lowe's), one with a part that broke too easily while being installed and couldn't be replaced (another trip for a brand-new new showerhead) and finally success. Then I found that I'd not packed my power-unit in my laptop case as we were leaving B&N. Sure enough, [livejournal.com profile] amykb, who lives a good 45 minutes away, had it in her stuff. Bossman kindlyt offered to drive me up to her place. The trip turned into a 2.5 hour one thanks to bridge and tunnel-repairs and weird detour routes. We were wiped by the time we got home. And I am so glad he was driving - I would have totally gotten lost on the way home.

But with Ruby Tuesdays on Friday, ordered-out pizza and wings on Saturday, Chedder's on Sunday, plus the other costs, it was an expensive weekend. All that money around our waists. :)
