Okay, so most of you know that I'm a bit... persnickity about medieval clothing being correct-to-period-and-culture. So this entry make shock you a bit. And even worse, I'm looking for some validation, as I AM persnickity and this is outside of the norm for me.

I'm making replacement clothing for our group's Gold Key stuff. And I'm making it, for the most part, out of donated fabric augmented by my bits and pieces (and anyone else's bits and pieces), trying to get the most that I can out of each piece. So Goal Number One is "use up the donated fabric as much as I can, in a manner that will do right by the benifactor's kindness". Goal Number Two is, "make something that will help a newcomer feel medieval, and if they are a girl/woman, as if they had stepped into a medieval fantasy as a princess". Because we want them to be excited about this and to come back, yes?*

So... I made a gown. I have another one cut out in the same style. It is for a baby girl (actually, the pattern said "extra large infant" but I think it's probably a size two.) It is behind the cut so as to not insult the eyes of those who are already shaking their heads )

*I am assuming that the more historically-minded newcomer will not be all that interested in the loaner garb because they already have an idea of what they want and how it should look, based on their research.
