stitchwhich: (age is a privilege)
I've been looking at medical alert necklaces. I don't really want a bracelet (besides, those offend my weekend "authenticity moments") but it was brought home to me that I should have something on that will catch the eye of an EMS if I should be unconcious. Especially since we spend so much time outdoors. It would probably be wise, for example, to ensure that "Allergic to Benedryl" is something easily made known. Just in case I'm having some sort of allergy-reaction and someone thinks it would be smart to try to counteract that. You know. As would be the first thing *I* would try to do in such a situation.

At first, I looked at the "standard company"'s stuff - the folks with brochures in all the doctor's offices. Wow, that's expensive for 'nothing much'. Then I checked out this one: (I tried to insert a photo, but LJ isn't having any of it, so I must just give you an URL) http://www.laurenshope.com/product/1513/VF6/navy-and-red-medical-id-pendant/size . I can't tell if the blue bit is some kind of shaped stone (which is what it looks like to me) or if it's just a chunk of steel. I wouldn't really want it if it were just metal.

The other one that appeals is this one: http://www.medicalert.org/shop/medicalert-jewelry/emergency-medical-id/necklace/detail/A723.htm?n=Two-Tone-Medical-ID-Pendant-with-Chain . It's from a company that takes down your information and then provides an information relay-service to the EMS/Hospital, so more information would be available right off the bat. But I'm not really sure that I am comfortable with depending on that.

That first one I linked to? That company has some other cute/useful ones that I was also looking at - and the pink dogtag ones made me smile. http://www.laurenshope.com/products/100/custom-engraved-medical-id-alert-necklaces-for-women
