stitchwhich: (Humility the Manx)
On Sunday we tortured our Manx cat, Humility. But she forgave us relatively quickly.

She hasn't been successfully grooming herself for a while now. We don't know if it is laziness or what, but from about her kitty-waist to the back of her body she has (had) matted fur. Having a double-coat of fur was not helping. Finally, with the aid of a friend protected by cooking mittens, she was held captive on the table while I used sewing shears to snip though all of the mats and run the scissors all the way up both of her sides and the ridge of her back, clipping it all short. It isn't very professional looking but neither is it a sheet of uncomfortable clumps of skin-pulling mats. She fought us when we tried to roll her over to get to the other side, biting at our friend through the mitts (not successfully) but for the most part she was calm, especially when either Bossman or I was scratching her ears & chin. Afterwards she launched off of the table like a rocket but within a minute or two she was stretched out on the living room carpet, posing and rolling languidly.

So I guess we're forgiven.

I just realised that she has a night-specific habit. I've noticed her settling down on the rug between me and the kitchen when I'm on the computer and just now came to see that she only does that at night. It's nearly eight in the morning right now and she's back on her pillow on her favourite chair after spending the wee hours sleeping by my work table. That is about where she hunkers down, purring the while, as I'm on the computer. I shall have to make a note to see if she goes back to her pillow when the sun rises or is it when Bossman does?

Countdown: 231 to a Gleevec-free life.
