Mar. 19th, 2014 07:56 amRecovery from the Gleevec-induced side effects continues... oddly, I ended up with a sleepless night not because of the normal muscle cramps but because they are fading away. The muscles in my legs have been knotted so badly over the last few years that they feel like iron cording under my skin. They're starting to relax and (I hadn't thought about it) that means that they are twitching and 'fizzing' as circulation patterns change, as it were... just like one's muscles do after you've slept on your arm or something. It was pretty painful but mostly I was aware of how weird it felt. Alien. That is subsiding and things are growing easier.
I've removed the little 'emergency medication' bottle from my keychain. No longer will I need Ondansetron (Zofran) on standby. Wow.
The return to energetic is coming along in bursts and fits. I feel more alive and positive than I have in a while but my poor body is so out of shape that it can't support the action I want to take. So for the last few days I've been constantly up and down from my chair, doing something until I get weak and shaky then returning to the chair to rest - but the rest time is growing shorter and I'm back up again to do something else. I love this! I've not tried any heavy work yet, of course, and the wet & cold weather has kept me indoors but I've been getting more housework done in an afternoon than I was getting done in a week, and no longer are things left in place after use until I can gather the energy to put them back where they belong.
I am excited by the thoughts of how I'll feel next week. Heck, I'm not even as hungry on a running basis as I once was.
[Edit] "Cleaning for a Reason" just contacted me with an appointment for a house cleaning from a local service. What a blessing. They'll come in and clean the house for free, once a month, for four months. I probably won't need their help for that long but I'm so grateful. What wonderful charity.
