Simple Pleasures

stitchwhichI was thinking about how much I like laying on my bed after a shower - (don't visualize, just go with it)... totally relaxed with that clean-skin smell, just boneless. I love that.
In the course of my relaxing and letting my thoughts free-float it occurred to me that I've been feeling stressed about that volunteer thing for about two years or so, maybe three... about the same amount of time as when one of the higher-ups was at the end of their term and I began to have to deal with their successor(s). And that led me to the realisation that I wouldn't know about the internal drama, or have to deal with excessive emotion-flinging, if I'd just calmly say with finality to only one specific person, "if this doesn't bear directly on my assigned task, I do not want to hear about it."
And keep saying it. In the short term, it will lead to some ugliness as the speaker reacts. In the long term, it should make it so I can do what I feel I should do without becoming the resentful exhausted basketcase I was last year.
Now to keep practicing that phrase...
