I just realised that I've been labouring under a delusion. WoW isn't a Big Event in the tradition of Sapphire Joust, it is a heavily-attended short weekend event*...

Yes, it's on a three-day weekend. But since we have to be offsite by noon on Sunday, that doesn't mean squat in terms of 'long weekend' - and since most people cannot take days off the week before a short workweek, we'll all (pretty much) be arriving on Friday afternoon or evening.

Which works out to the same thing as attending any other camping event except we have to vamoose much faster on Sunday than we'd normally have to. So why, I ask myself, did I rent an enclosed trailer to bring our stuff when we're only going to be cooking, at most, 4 meals and onsite for all of 60 hours? Why? Because I never really thought it through. I believed the hype without looking at the reality.

*sigh*

I wonder if I can get a refund on the trailer?

*Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to seeing friends and doing Fun Stuff, but making "oh boy, we'll host this, and cook that, and relax and have long days of visiting" plans is silly. It is not what this brings. Not like Sapphire. More like BIG baronial birthday or camping coronation, or any other event where we arrive Friday, event Saturday, and pack out Sunday. Except that we'll spend Monday sitting on our thumbs back home.
