That is indeed a leap. Wow. How close will you be to your other children? Check to see how that state will be towards retirees/folks collecting social security. In a few years you and Arne will be eligible for it.
One of the reasons we chose PA was that it would be close to Marinus and we could do events occasionally, merchanting and non merchanting with them. Yup, the younger crowd is into the booze end of things, but there are old farts like me and my husband who aren't. Sure wish you were nearer!
Your son will adapt. We moved down into a conservative area where folks had never really lived elsewhere and not exposed to more liberal points of view but it is interesting finding how many things we can agree on. If he really doesn't like it, he can move. I moved a lot when I was his age.
If you are feeling more in tune with The Great Horde, find out where most of them live. The large households (?) generally have a central area. OChoda is upper New England - I miss them.
