My own tooth replacement was differently challenging. I am sorry you went through that. It's such a weird experience.
Don't panic if the new tooth falls off every couple of years. Your dentist will probe it at regular cleanings, but the glue does let go. I have been using an electric toothbrush; apparently letting it "idle" near the surgical site seems potentially stimulating of healthy replacement gum growth.
I've got a good, sane, quality friend out there, whom I think you will like.
