Nice weekend

On Saturday afternoon, I was reading email and spotted a message that arn had just posted from his office computer (he'd stopped by his office). It said that we were hosting the baronial fighter's practice - the next day. Oh. Okay. So Saturday afternoon and evening saw a whirlwind cleaning session at our house. Now, really, all we needed to do was run a quick attack on floors and the bathroom but that ole snowballing effect kicked in. The next thing I knew, we were stripping shelves of old books, fixing the vacuum cleaner (who knew that much hair had gotten wrapped around the roller?) and making plans to clean out the old pantry supplies by making cookies. Hours later, the house smelled better (all windows open to a lovely breeze), was less dusty, and I was happily starting the first batch of cookies. Sunday followed, as it does, with the same clear and lovely weather. We had a small group of folks show but I think they had a good time. I made peanut butter cookies, oatmeal-raisin, and Toll house chocolate chip ones. There were just enough left over to send some to my youngest as an "I'm thinking of you" gift and a few left over for the cookie jar. Not bad. It was a good gathering. I think we should do it again.
