stitchwhichThanks, I needed that. Remind me again why I'm subscribed to the SCA-Garb List? Because I like reading messages where people with good advice get ignored and folks with no bloody clue bury the facts under their messages of ignorance? Thank the Gods that some folks with clues are still subscribed, but my, my, my, can I understand why so many garb research folks left that list. And me with no handy websites to cite ('cause doncha know, books don't count on an eList!). *shudder* I can count on one hand the number of posters who actually do research and can back up the costuming advice they give and except for one of them, they all get the "well, this isn't the Society for Compulsive Authenticity!" thrown at them along with a load of bad advice from everywhich way.
Sorry, I'm just feeling frustrated. A person asked a simple question, a couple of folks sent a simple answer, and now, doncha know, the great Myth Propagating Machine is grinding its wheels. And this time, I'm not throwing myself on the tracks. i did that already (twice) this weekend and I'm too disgusted to do it again.
Moving right along - the computer is a GREAT late-evening alternative to books when you're not in the mood to read. I tried watching TV but if I have to sit through one more ECPI, "sleep-mattress", or "cleaning solution" ad, I think I was going to do something not-nice to our television. Like spray paint the screen. Arn wouldn't like that come Monday Football time. I guess the cat wouldn't appreciate the fumes in her sleeping area, either... so I went to the computer and played games until I was in the mood to read email then surfed the web and read all sorts of cool stuff that I'd normally never see in a non-computerised home. Every once in a while, I give thanks for such an extensive and deep researching tool. And a fun one, too. I now have part of my shopping list taken care of thanks to a "Tickle Me Freud" doll and a "St. Sabastian Pin cushion" found on one webstore's site. heh hehe he...
