I'm going to do one of the Laurel's challenges at Tir-Y-Don's Feast of St. Luke event in October. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm challenging folks to create an artifact that reflects a persona's relationship with a saint and draft a background story as to why that persona would have that artifact... like a woman who was facing a hazardous childbirth, perhaps, who had a slip of St. Anne's gown in a small reliquary, or someone with stomach problems who had a handful of prayers that they could soak in water and drink the liquid afterwards.

I'm really hoping that it will intrigue and challenge folks to think about an aspect of the medieval life that we don't usually explore in the SCA.

I guess I'd better word it so those of non-Christian faiths can take part too. Got any suggestions on how to do that? I've been thinking about it off and on for a few days and can't jell it together.

(You wait. Some random Viking-friend of mine is gonna show up with a silver chalice and say he got it on an acquisition trip to someplace called "Lindesfarne" and I'm gonna have to clock him.)
