Spring joy

We have a bush by the driveway that was one of the slowest growing things I'd ever seen, and odd, to boot. It had glossy green leaves, mixed green and yellow leaves coming from a few branches, and yellow and white leaves coming from a few other branches right in the center of the bush. I still don't know what it is but after 19 years of watching it just sit there, it suddenly exploded into growth.

It surprised both of us. And Arn reluctantly got out the trimmers to cut back some of the explosion and to help it shape into something nice... and then he put the trimmers away, unused.

We have a little nest of two - jays, I think - right in the center of the biggest growth-clump. As I sit here typing, I can hear the nestlings peeping. So from my window, I have sunlight through the gently-blowing willow tree on one side and young serenaders on the other.

I like spring.
