It's been an odd Pennsic so far, marked by sorrow and thankfulness. I'm thankful because two friends survived heart attacks this week and are here, whole and hearty.

I am touched by the kindness of our extended SCA family for the charity that reached out and bought a new ger for Og, who had been taken to the hospital and so did not know that the past storm destroyed his tent. His newly-purchased-by-donations-behind-his-back Ger was up and filled with his cleaned and dried possessions before he was released to return to the War.

I was struck by sorrow at the loss of my Horde Brother Wu, the Collective, whose musical ability was beyond words and whose quirky humor touched many of us.

Sorrow is a quiet chord in the back of my day, as it will be for many days, as a four year old child I never knew faces her last days and her father, a man I respect and love, has to watch his child leave him and her twin behind.

Sometimes, acceptance is truly difficult.

The weather has been mild, if humid. The evening skies have been clear and the waning moon retires the field to the sparkling stars. We were able to see a bit of the milky way last night before the clouds obscured the view. The sky beyond them was that clear.

I got to see Mustafa, and Michelle, and have a promise that I can hold Michelle's new baby. Yes, Shawn and Opi, they snuck a little one into their family while we weren't looking. And soon, Prose is going to be doing the same.

I haven't missed reading the News or watching TV. Yet. (I hope we're still recording "Burn Notice!")
