Blazon question - follow up
Aug. 31st, 2008 01:11 pmAs I (and
hrj and probably others) suspected, a tinture was left out of the blazon. I shall have to put in a request for reblazoning. The actual badge, in non-heraldese would be a white chief with a black trident pointing to the left and below it green on the left, a thin stripe of white in the middle, and blue on the right. The effect on a round background is to make it look like there's a white mushroom (with a black trident laying across its cap) standing between green & blue curtains. I believe
hrj is right and the blazon should be "Per pale vert and azure, a palet and on a chief argent a trident sable". I'd wondered if that was what was missing but when it comes to blazoning, "I'm still an egg" so thought I just didn't understand enough heraldese.
Here's a laugh - the trident looks backwards to me. My first response on seeing the sumbission page (thank you
shaunacarrick!) was surprise that it was pointing so no one could grab it... yeah, yeah. Lefties... there's more of us in the SCA than elsewhere you know.
[Edit] Interesting. In searching for the registration of our barony's "Baroness' Award of Courtesy" and "Baron's Award of Excellence", not only does the Barony of Marinus not have them, but I find that our Kingdom doesn't have "The Queens's.." or "The King's..." either! There is a "Princess' Award of Courtesy", though...
