Quite wonderful. We were able to set up shop (merchants in main hall, mostly). Vigils happened. Schmoozing happened a lot.
I got to reconnect with Anne and her family. Anne was out native guide at KWHSS in 1997 in AEthelmearc. She arranged for us to see the replica Book of Kells in the reference room at Saint John Fisher College's library. Way cool. I got to embarrass her in front of her teen-age daughter (who, by having decided she likes the SCA, has made space for them to play again) by relating the tale.
As reported elsewhere, the feast was quite excellent considering the circumstances. We were just about to leave when the lamb chops for the third course finally made it out. They made for a fine breakfast this morning.
Bruni and Marie were both radiant and elevated in distinctive ceremonies. Bruni was processed in under a canopy (suggestive of a chuppa) carried by two principal heralds, a sovereign of arms, and another person whose identity escapes me. Marie was led in by a swarm of heralds in tabards. Istvan's speech as a Pelican was, in essence, a love song. Very touching. Cormac was there to pass on The Medallion complete with the full listing of prior recipients, of whom five (of the twelve) were present, and the first two had been East Kingdom heralds of reknown.
I got to reconnect in person with Sorcha (Maries BFF from Wyoming and former White Stag herself), whom I had met face-to-face at KWHSS in 2004 when I picked her (and Marie) up at the airport. It was nice to visit with her.
Isolte (sp?) was showing me her spinning and weaving investigation. She used Z-spun singles for the warp, and did sections with Z-spun weft and S-spun weft to see the effects. The 2/2 twill and the tabby both showed a clear difference in appearance. When the weft and warp were spun differently, the meshed together better giving a less pronounced surface texture. It was pretty cool to see it in action.
You're welcome. I am minded to add that Mord was present in a splendid hat that he described as the closest thing to a coronet that would be persona-appropriate. Trés spiffy.
