Arni's getting better. He goes for a couple of hours before the coughing starts. It's our signal that it is time for the next dose of medicine. I hope you noticed that the world stood upside down today. It will do it again tomorrow - Arn actually called in sick.

Me, I've got the achey body and sore throat along with that cool crackly noise you can get in your ears when you swallow. I know what's coming. I went to Manteo today with Shilo (she graciously travelled with me to a place where I could buy a new mug to replace the one that was broken at Barnacled Bullfrog) and after 6 hours of driving and shopping, I was totally exhausted. Came home, transplanted pajamas where blue jeans had been, and closed my eyes. I vaguely remember Arni fielding phone calls. I do not remember his answering the doorbell. And if you'd ever heard our door bell, which is located right next to the bedroom door, that would stun you. It was 5 hours before I woke up again. I vegged with the man in front of the TV (CSI, you know) and then came to the computer to read email. It doesn't make sense. Even this entry probably doesn't. I just felt the need to connect somehow and I know that a one-on-one email would require thinking as opposed to stream-of-conciousness typing. Which is running down, btw. Tomorrow I've got to answer emails and send apologies.

I'm staying home for the next few days. Got to go out at some point to buy more Theraflu but I am determined to cheat the sinus infection gremlins. Absolutely. They've won enough from me in the past and the pendulum is swinging in the opposite direction, by gum!

My new 'mug' (cup, actually) is nice. Too modern for my comfort but the only one that felt good in my hand. I do like the way it molds to my palm. It will do until someone else breaks it. 9-12 months = life time of one of my mugs. Temporary art, that's what they are. Poor things. I keep the ones that Finnr got for me hidden in the house. Some memories don't get risked. Do you know that out of the 20 or so mugs and cups I've had broken, I have not been responsible for a single one? Men... every break has been a guy-fatality. Freud would probably have a ball with that.

Hope everyone has fun at Ymir. I hope the forecast is wrong and a nice pocket of cloudy and warm hovers over the campsite. (Clear would mean cold.) I'd rather hear that everyone had fun and were healthy than otherwise. Even if it were a nice forecast, I'm not risking anyone by coming around them. So stay dry and warm and don't freeze your toesies off.
I hope my Viking-era buddies meet Bryan of Austerlanders and make him feel welcome. It might be his first SCA event.
