I got a new keyboard and mouse yesterday to go with my new 'docking station' for the laptop. Typing is difficult - the keypad is actually smaller than a 'regular' desktop board and kinda clunky, while the mouse requires a very firm (an almost stern) click of the finger to get the right or left side to respond. It is going to take some practise. Right now, I'm dividing my attention between the keyboard and the screen so I can see what to hit with my fingers. I have to go back every few letters and fix a mis-hit - the 'back' key is certainly in a weird place. Well, 'certainly' according to my muscle memory!

I love having the screen at eye level, though, as well as being able to move the keyboard and clear space in front of my laptop in order for me to do things like reconcilng my checking account - it was less easy when my ledger book had to be on one side and the calculator bouncing wherever I could fit it while the reciepts and such ended up on the printer, for lack of any other horizontal space. Now it all fits between me and the computer, with room for the mouse to order around the bank's webpage. I likes that.

Oh, but this 'adaption' thing with the typing, man, is that irritating. I haven't been this ham-fingered since I had to adapt to a typewriter after years of a teletype keyboard. Sheesh.
