It was grand to spend the night at Drea and Calli's place and meet the mythical fumigating Rory and the two cats... didn't have as much chat time as I wanted but that always seems the way. I thought we were staying both nights but Arn was worried about getting back and rested in time to marshal for the fighter's practise on Sunday, so between that and our achey-soreness by the end of the day, we headed home instead. I admit, my waterbed was *heavenly*. I am so spoiled...
I was so glad that folks appeared out of nowhere to help us get the baronial pavilion set up. For about 20 minutes of unloading, I thought it was going to just be Arni and I. Whew! The corner with the food and drink took no time at all to set up and I was able to have hot water available fairly early. I admit, I'm too hermit-like - we got to have Tir-Y-Don join us and do you know, it wasn't until I got home that I realised I'd hardly ever gone over to talk to anyone, I was so focussed on staying near the stove to make sure that we had all the hot water and soup (or savory toasted cheese) that we needed. I did enjoy watching all the mutual-baronial children play together. Kaleeb and Llydd brought a rug out and put it in a corner and the children had a nice relatively-clean place to crawl and lay, play and sit on. I really enjoyed watching them all have fun while we sat (or huddled) in our chairs and relaxed. Drea came and visited me a few times and let me press soup on her... she was a busy girl.
I didn't attend any of the courts, being duty-tied to the stove, but mostly it was my own lazy disinclination to leave my chair in the corner. I was out of the wind there and that meant that with my linen&wool on, I was warm. Warm enough to lend out my 'extra layers' to other folks who were not doing well in the cold. Arn and I both realised the pitfall of tunic w/hat or cap, though - your neck gets cold! There will be a couple of wool mantles with hoods made up before we go to Blackstone Raids, that's for sure.
I loves me my linen and wool!

So, easy packing. Pleasant trip down there (despite a need to update directions). A really nice evening chatting followed by a short, short trip to the camp, Then a satisfying event, a stress-free trip home and a big whump! into my warm waterbed... Arn unpacked the truck yesterday and we have everything clean and put away already. It almost seems like we messed up somehow. It should have been more stressful and labour -intensive. I could get used to weekends like this one. :)

I was sitting around doing nothing (painting boxes to give to our B&B so they can use them as gifts) and was working myself into a pretty good funk, thinking of friends that I used to chat with two or three times a week and now never call or hear from - our paths have split and their livesare too busy. And that was making me sad. (Or maybe it was the paint fumes.)

Then Brigit called and said she was on her way over to finish painting the craft room and the Gawd-Awful Closet. And Arn walked in the door from work...

Out! Went the blues. On came the grins. And while the boxes are still only partially finished, I did get another bag knitted and a new one started. I love playing with the medium and seeing the difference that a color change can make to the overall pattern. It's like grown-up's coloring books with twin pages.
