Oct. 28th, 2008 02:37 amI'd say that I was having a lazy day but really, I'm getting a lot done, just in 'as you go' sort of spurts. Mostly, I've been sitting in front of the computer reading or else in bed sleeping - the worst phase of my head cold didn't hit until yesterday afternoon, thank goodness after Drea had headed out and the fighter's practise was winding down, so I've been a bit uncomfortable, headachey, and too whiney to really be around people at the exact moment that there is no need for me to actually be around anyone.
But that also means that I'm restless when I'm not sleeping so laundry is getting done, dishes are (finally) done after a weekend of "Ugh!", shopping lists drawn up, bills paid, guest bed broken down and put away, jammies ordered from a mail-order company (Woman Within), picked up Shawn for a late-night dinner and chat and had three (!) phone calls with his brother Zackory, the last one while he was standing in line to vote early since he can't on election day. (He is voting the same presidential selection as I am. I'd say "good boy" but really, I'd say the same thing if he weren't - 'cause he's participating in his franchise and that makes me feel like we raised him well.)
Tomorrow is a dermatology appointment followed by a l-o-n-g walk through the commissary. The cupboards are bare, they are, and that's not right. As I'm in my break from the Atkins-diet, I have certain foods I'd like to eat before I saddle the low-carb horse back up.
I definitely must have:
Grilled cheese sandwiches & tomato soup with milk in it.
Pot roast with potatoes, carrots, onions and celery.
Vegetable beef soup w/barley
Baloney & cheese sandwiches with a granny smith apple. Or maybe a lady one, if I can find one
and a peanut butter w/apple butter sandwich with a PEAR! I want a pear!
After that, I think I'll be reconciled to returning to my low-carb lifestyle. I really like the short break/long observation cycle. I find that I can only go so long before the food choices begin to feel restrictive (mainly because I just don't spend enough time cooking - mostly I use the counter-top grill) and then I want something different - not necessarily high-carb, just different flavors and textures. This scratches that itch every couple of months. Already I'm starting to crave the foods I'm more accustomed to on the Atkins plan and I suspect that by the end of the week I'll be happily back on it.
