stitchwhich: (Like my T-Shirt?)
If I were in a camp with electricity, I would be so tempted to put up a good sized paavilion with one entrance to the road (as part of the camp walls, as it were), with electricity inside, a couple of tables, a garbage can and a big banner that said, "Teen's tent"... with probably a littler sign inside that said something like, "keep it clean, keep it quiet after X:00, and relax".

Sometimes I forget that the single most common reason for a person's behavior is that they want to be liked, appreciated. That the officious, the interfering, the drama-queen - they all want what others have, the approval and goodwill of those around them.

For all that I am prone to snippy remarks and snarky comments to my friends about people who annoy me (and we all have incidents of such in our lives), I cannot help but also respond to that desire to be liked.

It's not easy to get over a dislike for someone and extend them a friendly hand. I need to do that more often. Because I also know that in many cases, once acceptance is achieved, the drive for the drama/overbearing/whatever eases and the person I would call the 'real one' comes out.

Helping that person emerge is a worthy goal.
