A quick state of the Hrothny
Aug. 29th, 2010 12:47 amAm recovered from Pennsic. Am also recovered from the gallstone/gallbladder attack that had me in the ER sobbing in pain (THAT was a new experience. Must do something about this crying weakness when I used to never do such a thing) and have an appointment to see the doctor, to get the referral, to see a specialist. You know how it goes.
Have been embroidering on a tunic for Bossman, one that is far, far overdue. While working on it, I have been lucky enough to have a few visitors who made me laugh, talk, and listen while they, too, worked on projects. One-to-one visits are a blessing. Even three of us together is pretty darn cool. Anything more than that and we'd better be playing cards. :)
Which, we did. Too. Also. Last Sunday.
The craft room has been turned on its head and I haven't figured out what I'm going to do to put it to rights. It comes from some 'stuff reorganising' but on the heels of Pennsic and my owies, the timing could have been better.
As a result of the craftroom upheaval, there is a pile of stuff in the library. This vexes me. It needs to get put away.
Pennsic laundry is still being done. I had a larger blanket-load than normal so have been alternating 'garb' with 'blankets' but have merged into "'garb' then 'regular stuff' then 'blankets' then 'more regular stuff'". I am thinking that a visit to the local laundromat might be in order. But then I'd have to figure out what to do with the clean camping blankets, whose home has disappeared from the craft room. I refuse to revert to rubbermaid bins. I'm starting to think that the hope chest at the foot of the bed needs to be cleaned out and re-stuffed with something we really use. Like blankets.
In getting things ready for our "make a camping chest" worksession, we found that our middle-sized chest still had items from our mantle in it, left over after we'd decorated for the Winter Holidays. Part of me says, "if you didn't miss them, you don't need them" and that voice is growing louder - for some items. The small collection of penguins WAS missed, and now has a new home on top of the roll-top desk, in a little 'cabinet' that started life at WalMart (midnight shopping trip) as a desk drawer organiser. http://personal-organization.daytimer.com/Desk-Accessories/Organizers/Bamboo-Expandable-Drawer-Organizer/0/False/28369 A judicious use of glue fastened the 'sides' together and it looks quite respectable as a curio shelf unit. I should take a picture.
Bossman worked on my computer and has agreed that something is wrong. He set me up with an expert from his workplace to see if we can fix it.
I've been going to the gym almost every day. All I do is walk, and that only a little, as I started at a 30-minute mile and have cut it down to a 24-minute mile. I've begun feeling 'itchy' about doing something else while I'm there. The Stride machines are calling me...
